Ashbourne is a market town on the edge of the Peak District with many attractions; Georgian architecture, a fine Parish Church and with Dovedale and Alton Towers nearby!
There is good walking, a cycle hire scheme and a swimming pool.
Carsington reservoir is close and the surrounding countryside is ideal for field trips.
Special events include Ashbourne's Shrovetide Football and Tissington's Well Dressings which start on Ascension Day.
The historic houses of Chatsworth, Kedleston, Haddon and Calke are all close enough for a visit as are The Museum of Childhood at Sudbury, Arkwright's Mill at Cromford and the Crich Tramway Museum.
