"From Kniveton to Kenya"

On sale now - From Kniveton to Kenya by Sister Merle Wilde Sister Merle Wilde grew up in Kniveton, Derbyshire, but spent many years working in Kenya. At the age of 95, she wrote a book "From Kniveton to Kenya" which tells the story of her call to ministry in East Africa and the UK.

Sister Merle first went to Kenya in 1957 and, with short visits back to the UK, served the Meru District until 1971 when she returned as her mother was unwell. Over the next ten years she served in Notting Hill, Bristol and Coventry before she officially retired in 1981.

After her ‘retirement’, she moved back to Ashbourne and continued to work, particularly in Brailsford, Kniveton and Kirk Ireton, where she was a regular visitor to local schools. Sister Merle died, aged 96, on 14th November 2017.
